Teaching Students the Words to Think Critically About Science
Those dialogues on the above website are mainly talking about how professor Catherine Snow explains the program "Word Generation" led by her.
That program consists of a series of topics designed for students to discuss and debate on. In doing so, it would help students learn to think critically even while they are learning new words. Also, in the process of discussion, students can learn these words more efficiently and keep them for longer time. And, every topic is designed as basis of a week, so students would be exposed to these related and similar words frequently in that week, which is believed to be beneficial to learning new words.

As to me, it's not kind of like a novel idea to pick up new words by meeting them many times, but what impresses me so much is that there are courses designed for that. I think if we who take English as second language are able to be trained in any courses like those since middle school, there must be less problems about lack of English ability among Taiwan students.
